Projects with RSA Involvement with Design and/or Traffic Management Auditing.


Regional Rail Link - Victoria

Regional Rail Link is a major new rail line running from West Werribee to Deer Park and along the existing rail corridor through suburbs including Sunshine and Footscray to Southern Cross Station.
Regional Rail Link separates regional trains from metropolitan trains - for the first time giving Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat trains their own dedicated tracks through the metropolitan system from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station. This will increase capacity for both the regional services and the suburban services on the Werribee, Sunbury and Craigieburn lines.

In addition to the dedicated tracks for regional services, the project includes new stations at Wyndham Vale and Tarneit, new platforms at Southern Cross Station and construction of a new rail bridge over the Maribyrnong River. RSA has been involved in preliminary audits of road crossings.

South Morang Rail Extension Project - Melbourne - 2010-2012

The Epping rail line is being duplicated from Keon Park to Epping and extended to South Morang. Epping and Thomastown railway stations are being replaced, with Epping being relocated. Road upgrades include new overpasses, roads, signalised intersections and an Epping public transport hub. RSA is involved with traffic management audits for the project.




Transcity - Legacy Way - Brisbane

Legacy Way is a 4.6km underground toll road linking the Western Freeway at Toowong with the Inner City Bypass (ICB) at Kelvin Grove. Construction includes two parallel tunnels with cross linkages, and tolling and safety systems. RSA is involved in both design audits and traffic management audits for the project.

Trackstar - Darra to Springfield Rail Project: Richlands to Springfield section - Brisbane
This project, worth A$475m, involves the construction of 10km of dual railway track and a new elevated Springfield railway station with a park-and-ride car park and an integrated bus/rail interchange facility.

The project includes widening of the Centenary Highway between Springfield Parkway and Johnson Road and the construction of a new 3.5m wide path between Richlands and Springfield, partially for bicycles and partially "shared-use".

TrackStar Alliance, created in 2006, has been the lead contractor for a number of rail projects in south east Queensland. TrackStar Alliance comprises Thiess, United Group Infrastructure, Aurecon, AECOM and Queensland Rail.

RSA is conducting traffic management road safety audits for the project.


South Road Superway - Western Expressway - Adelaide

Urban Superway is a consortium which is building what will be known as the Western Expressway, a 4.8 km expressway connecting between the Port River Expressway at the north and Regency Road at the south. The majority of the project is to consist of an elevated 6-lane expressway built on columns above South Road, with ground level works also being undertaken to improve South Road in the Wingfield area. At $812 million, this is the biggest infrastructure project ever in South Australia. RSA is conducting both design audits and traffic management audits for the project.

M80 Ring Road Upgrade - Melbourne - 2008-2013

The M80 Ring Road Upgrade will improve the 38km Western and Metropolitan Ring Roads, from the Princes Freeway at Laverton North to the Greensborough Highway at Greensborough, expanding it to a minimum of three lanes in each direction.

The M80 Ring Road Upgrade is a $2.25 billion project, jointly funded by the Victorian and Australian governments and is expected to take more than 5 years to complete.

RSA has been involved in design audits for some sections and traffic management audits for some sections.

Accessible Tram Stop Program - Melbourne

It is important that all Victorians can access public transport including people with disabilities, the elderly and frail and parents with prams. Almost 20 per cent of Victorians have a disability and ageing patterns show that this figure is expected to increase in the years ahead. The Accessible Tram Stop Program involves the construction of about 350 new platform stops in Melbourne as part of a $250 million, 10-year investment in improving public transport accessibility. Features at tram stops include; access paths, ramps, Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs), waiting areas and stairs, lighting and furniture. More than 100 wheelchair-accessible tram stops are now open.

Airport Link - Brisbane

BrisConnections is delivering the $4.8 billion Airport Link, Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) and Airport Roundabout Upgrade projects - Australia's largest road infrastructure project to improve the link for motorists and public transport users between the city and airport. Construction of the combined road and busway solution has now commenced, with all three roads scheduled for completion by mid 2012. RSA is the lead audit for traffic management and temporary road design.

Springvale Road/Rail Separation - Melbourne

This is a $140 million dollar project to grade separate the Springvale Road rail crossing. The rail lines will be sunk underground and grade separate one of the busiest intersections in Australia. RSA is conducting the traffic management audits.

Sugarloaf Pipeline Project

This project involved constructing a 70 km pipeline linking the Goulburn River near Yea to the Sugarloaf Reservoir in Melbourne's north-east at a cost of $750 million. Significant traffic management is required on the Melba Highway. RSA conducted traffic management audits.

Gateway Upgrade Project - Brisbane

The $1.88 billion Gateway Upgrade Project totals 20km and includes a second Gateway Bridge. RSA's involvement includes both traffic management auditing, and temporary road design auditing.

Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade - Melbourne

The Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade is a $1 billion project that will improve traffic flow and safety on one of the state’s busiest routes. Works included widening sections of the road between Williamstown and Dandenong, improving entry/exit points and introducing a new intelligent freeway management system from Werribee to Narre Warren.
