Eastlink

Australia's largest urban infrastructure project, comprising 45 kilometres of freeway-standard road connecting Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs between the existing Eastern Freeway at Donvale and the Frankston Freeway on the Mornington Peninsula.

Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade

The Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade is a $1 billion project that will improve traffic flow and safety on one of the state’s busiest routes. Works will include widening sections of the road between Williamstown and Dandenong, improving entry/exit points and introducing a new intelligent freeway management system from Werribee to Narre Warren that will revolutionise how traffic flows.

Deer Park Bypass

The Deer Park Bypass is a $331 million project and is jointly funded by the Victorian and Federal Governments. It involves the construction of a 9.3km four lane freeway between the Western Highway at Caroline Springs and the Western Ring Road at Sunshine West. As part of the project, the Leakes Road intersection with the Western Freeway at Rockbank will be upgraded to a grade separated full diamond interchange.

Pakenham Bypass

The Pakenham Bypass is a $242 million project that will provide an important link between Gippsland and Melbourne. Running from Beaconsfield to Nar Nar Goon, the 20 kilometre freeway will bypass the townships of Pakenham and Officer.

Geelong Bypass

The Geelong Bypass will be a freeway-standard road extending 23 kilometres along Geelong's western outskirts from the Princes Freeway in Corio to the Princes Highway in Waurn Ponds. Drivers using the Bypass between Corio and Waurn Ponds will avoid up to 29 sets of traffic lights.

Calder Freeway

The upgrade of the Calder Highway is a jointly funded project between the Australian and Victorian Government's at an estimated total cost of $404 million. Between Melbourne and Bendigo, the highway is being upgraded to a high standard four lane divided road for all but 34 kms between Malmsbury and Ravenswood, where it reverts to a two lane highway.

Tullamarine Freeway-Calder Interchange

A $150 million upgrading of the Tullamarine-Calder Freeway interchange is to reduce congestion and improve safety at one of Melbourne's worst traffic bottlenecks and accident blackspots. More than 150 casualty accidents have been recorded over the last five years in this vicinity where the two busy freeways merge adjacent to Essendon Airport.

Accessible Tram Stop Program

It is important that all Victorians can access public transport including people with disabilities, the elderly and frail and parents with prams. Almost 20 per cent of Victorians have a disability and ageing patterns show that this figure is expected to increase in the years ahead. The Accessible Tram Stop Program will involve the construction of about 350 new platform stops in Melbourne as part of a $250 million, 10-year investment in improving public transport accessibility. Features at tram stops include; access paths, ramps, Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs), waiting areas and stairs, lighting and furniture. More than 100 wheelchair-accessible tram stops are now open.

Palmers Road Project, Point Cook

The Palmers Road Project is a $26.9 million project funded by the State Government. The works involve a 1.8 km two lane, undivided road extending between the Princes Freeway and Dunnings Road, Point Cook.

Sladen Street Duplication

The Sladen Street duplication is a $21 million project funded by the State Government. The works involve duplicating the existing road between Scott Street and Hall Road to provide two lanes in each direction. Traffic signals will be installed at the Cemetery Road / Fairbairn Road intersection, the Hall Road intersection, the Scott Street / Grant Street intersection and in the vicinity of St. Peters Catholic Co-Ed College and Amstel Golf Club.

Cranbourne Frankston Road Duplication

The Cranbourne-Frankston Road duplication is a $15.9 million project funded by the State Government. The works involve duplicating the existing road to provide two lanes in each direction between Warrandyte Road and Centre Road.

Wellington Road Duplication

The $9.3 million duplication of Wellington Road from Taylors Lane to Napoleon Road in Rowville is due for completion in mid-2006. The duplication involves widening Wellington Road to provide two lanes in each direction.

Mickleham Road Duplication

The Mickleham Road Duplication Project is a $9.1 million project funded by the State Government as part of its $163.6 million Outer Metropolitan Roads package. The works will duplicate 1.9km of the existing road to provide two lanes in each direction between Alanbrae Terrace, Attwood and Barrymore Road, Greenvale.

Westfield shoppingtown Redevelopment

Westfield Shopping town in Doncaster is undergoing a major upgrade including the expansion of its car park and pedestrian facilities, new restaurants, movie cinemas, and specialty stores. This will involve land acquisition, the upgrading of the bus interchange and taxi rank, and the placement of high voltage power cables from the Eastern Freeway.
